I am working in the pensions and insurance supervision departement of the FSMA, the Belgian « Financial Services and Markets Authority », where I co-ordinate since 2024 the international team.
Previously I worked 11 years as co-ordinator of the pensions prudential supervisory team consisting of actuaries, financial analysts, lawyers and bachelors.
Before that, I worked 6 years for the policy and international relations departement focusing on the policy issues of insurance and pensions supervision. I joined the FSMA (previously called CBFA) in 2005 as a financial analyst in the pensions departement.
Since 2005 I have always actively participated at European level, especially in the field of a.o. solvency of pension funds and cross-border IORPs, where I have chaired many workgroups at EIOPA.I am currently engaged with
I have also been active in EIOPA’s Review Panel (from 2008 till 2012), in EIOPA’s Board of Supervisors (from 2011 till 2013), in the International Association of Insurance Supervisors-IAIS (from 2007 till 2011), in EIOPA’s Risk and Financial Stability Committee (from 2007 till 2023) and since 2024 in EIOPA’s Supervisory Steering Committee and the Committee on Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation.
Prior to joining the FSMA, I worked 9 years in the pensions industry, first as a consultant providing advice to Belgian and European pension funds and conducting research for the European Commission (Pragma Consulting), then as senior investment officer for the industry-wide pension fund of the construction sector (FBZ Bouw – FSE Construction).
I graduated from the Solvay Business School (Brussels) as financial and management engineer in 1995 and obtained a Certificate in Actuarial Sciences (Louvain-la-Neuve) in 2004.
